Our mission
Our philosophy
Synergy Dance Academy is the first dance school in the Netherlands where we don’t use fixed gender roles in dance.
We started the school back in 2022 with the dream of creating a place where everyone feels welcome and equal on the dance floor. Today I (Linda) continue running Synergy Dance Academy on my own, carrying forward that same mission: to make bachata inclusive, fun, and empowering for everyone.
With over 20 years of combined experience, we bring knowledge, passion, and creativity into every class. Here, you’ll find a safe space to try out both leading and following, so you can break free from limitations and really discover your full potential in dance. Our team of teachers will guide and inspire you with strong technique and plenty of creativity.
At Synergy, bachata is more than just steps.. it’s rhythm, connection, and a way of life. It’s a dance full of passion and freedom, but also a community where you can truly be yourself. Above all, we believe dancing should feel fun, liberating, and supportive. And that’s exactly what you’ll experience with us.
Bachata
Bachata is a beautiful partner dance from the Dominican Republic, known for its rhythm, flow, and connection. It’s a dance full of feeling. Combining sensuality, musicality, and emotional expression. With its rich history, bachata reflects the culture and spirit of the Dominican Republic, and over time it has grown into one of the most popular dance styles worldwide.
Today, bachata is danced everywhere, at festivals, workshops, competitions, and social dance events across the globe. While its roots in passion and connection remain, the dance is always evolving as dancers bring in new moves, techniques, and cultural influences. That’s part of what makes bachata so special: it’s both deeply traditional and endlessly creative.
Rolerotation
RoleRotation in bachata is all about switching roles on the dance floor in a natural and playful way. Instead of sticking to the old model where one person always leads and the other always follows, RoleRotation gives both partners the chance to do both.
It’s a way of dancing that goes beyond traditional gender roles and opens up space for creativity, freedom, and connection. By exploring both leading and following, dancers get to experience the full spectrum of movement and discover new ways to express themselves freely
